Bugle beads are long tube shaped glass beads with flat ends like miniature straws.
They come smooth or twisted.
Sizes do vary with each manufacturer. They come in 1.5 to 30mm lengths.
#1 is usually the smallest ranging from 2 to 3mm
#2 is usually 4 to 6mm
#3 is usually 7 to 9mm
#4 is usually 9 to 12mm
Twisted bugles come in 3 sizes 2x6mm, 2x12mm and 2.7x12mm.
In Japan they are manufactured by Matsuno, the oldest of the three Japanese bead manufacturers in Osaka, TOHO in Hiroshima, and Miyuki in Fukuyama, Hiroshima. In the Czech Republic the sole manufacturer is Preciosa.
