"Gold-filled” is an industry standard that legally requires 1/20th, or 5% pure gold by weight.  It’s a strictly regulated process that involves pressure bonding multiple layers of solid 14KT gold with extreme heat over a core of high quality jeweler’s brass resulting in a durable, quality real gold product.  The gold is actually on the outside but it is a much thicker layer of real, solid gold rather than a plating.

• Gold Layer: A substantial layer of solid 14K gold is fused to the core, much thicker than plating.
• Process: A mechanical process of heat and pressure bonds the gold to the base metal, not electroplating.
• Durability: The gold layer won't easily flake or rub off, resisting tarnish and allowing for everyday wear.
• Legal Standard: Must contain at least 1/20th (5%) gold by weight, often marked as "14/20 GF" or "14K GF".
